Based on the review of the contingent we look stronger this time and have real medal prospects in 8 Sports. Deeper look on each contingent brings out the fact that this Olympics is likely to be a break out Olympics for Indian Sports.

Below Picture brings you the list of medal prospects who will test their skill against the world. We have 17 Events where Medals can be certainly won and Even if we achieve 50% of the target this would by far be an biggest achievements ever. 6 Medals (2012 Olympics) is the highest number we won so far and even with an optimistic lens i can see that we will surpass that number this time.

9 Days to Tokyo Olympics 2021

9 Days to Tokyo Olympics 2021

After being postponed for a year the biggest event of the globe is set to start on 23rd July which is 10 days from today and go on till 8th August in Tokyo. Uncertainty about the safety and well being apart, the protocols and safety measures for the games are making Athletes and organizers feel the heat. Nevertheless the show needs to start and it is indeed will be the mark of resilience that we show to the uncertain world how to be together.

This blog is the pilot of the Olympics series in which we will cover India’s performance in Olympics and Paralympics in a comprehensive manner. Apart from India’s performance we will also cover Events which has significant following across globe and Athletes with global footprints. So far North Korea has pulled out of Olympics and several stars like Roger Federer, nick krgious, serena Williams, Rafael nadal, Carolina marin, Simona halep, Stan wawrinka, Thomas ruhr and many more will miss Olympics. Again Pull out happens but show goes and on the Games will go on with new set of stars who will shine for their country.

From India we have so far have 120 (4 reserves) athletes qualified in 18 sports for the Games. In the 18 sports we will be competing in 67 events and we are favorites to win medal in 25 Events. Mary Kom the legendary veteran boxer will be representing India for the last time as she is 38 now and by the time of Paris Olympics she will be ineligible. She has vowed to make it count and bring a medal for second time as we she had already won an Olympics medal in London Olympics. In the Next few Blogs I will cover the entire list of the Indian contingent in detail and what we can hope from them and how likely their performance is going to be.

Japan has spent 16 billion USD (1.2 lakh crore INR) so far and the worst thing is that Olympics is going to be a closed stadium event with no spectators which makes a massive dent on the revenue from Olympics on the whole. Nevertheless both IOC and Japan were determined to go forward with Olympics and with 10 days to go Teams have started to arrive in Tokyo and Indians also have started to leave to the games and reach the base. New sports which have been included are baseball, sports climbing, surfing, karate and Skateboarding. There were few noise about excluding Wrestling from the events but it was received with negative reception ensured wrestling was included for 2021 and 2024. Any move to restrict Wrestling, Archery, Shooting and weight lifting events from Olympics should be resisted with all might by Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe as most stars in those sports comes from Asia and Eastern Europe. Of course its also the part of International federation of wrestling and weightlifting responsibility to spread the sport and improve the integrity of the sport.

Its my request to all please take your time and watch the Olympics live most events events happen Start at 9 AM Tokyo time which is 5:30 AM India time. This year India is sending an good contingent and lets all cheer and support for our Team to bring back glory. All events will be live in Sony Ten 1, 2, 3 and Six and Sony LIV OTT. I will also update you all with the event calendar and India specific calendar in upcoming videos. I sincerely hope this Olympics will motivate more children to take up sports and encourage parents to support children to pursue sports which will bring about paradigm shift in India on how sports is being treated.
