Opening ceremony and day 1 (India’s performance) report and Schedule for Day 2

Even before the opening ceremony was to begin there were few events lined up and of course one for Indian Athlete in Archery sport. Talking about the opening ceremony it was a typical samba style spectacle and no words to describe the way the torch was lit. I would still compare Rio opening ceremony with Beijing and every Olympics have their own unique culture depicted.

Coming to the performance of the Indian contingent on first two days (5th and 6th) it has been quite disappointing and the results so far are mentioned below.

Archery: Satisfying result

Atanu Das – Men’s individual – Scored 683 and seeded 5. He has qualified for round of 64 and will meet Muktan of Nepal

Bombayla devi – Women’s Individual – Scored 638 and seeded 24. She has qualified for round of 64 and will meet Baldauff of Austria

Deepika Kumari – Women’s Individual – Scored 640 and seeded 20. She has qualified for round 64 and will meet Esebua of Georgia

Hockey: Great Result

Indian Lads started off with a bang with 3-2 win over Ireland. Now India will meet Heavyweights Germany in next group Game. Raghunath and Rupinder singh (Twice) Scored for india.

Rowing: Unexpected Blinder

Dattu Baban Bhokanal – Men’s Single Sculls – Qualified for Quarter Finals in After finishing 3rd in Heats. Great Result in my opinion.

Shooting: So far Disappointment
